Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Microsoft Internet Explorer is a web browser capable of displaying HTML encoded pages, downloading files, etc. This application has a built-in JavaScript interpreter. It is also capable of using Document Object Model (DOM) objects, in particular by providing access to them through JavaScript. A memory corruption vulnerability exists in Microsoft Internet Explorer. The flaw resides in the DOM event handler script code that calls the window() function. An attacker may exploit this flaw to inject and execute arbitrary code on the target system with the privileges of the currently logged in user. In an attack where arbitrary code is injected and executed on the target machine, the behaviour of the target is dependent on the intention of the malicious code. If such an attack is not executed successfully, the vulnerable application may terminate as a result of the attack attempt. Note that the attempt of the attack might be attached to an event such as unloading the page, changing focus, clicking and so on. In such cases the behaviour occurs only after the event is triggered. |
