Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Safari is a web browsing application developed by Apple. Safari browsing functionality is built around the set of components called WebKit. WebKit is a development toolkit which allows third party developers to build applications that use Internet technologies such as HTML, HTTP, and others. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Apple Safari web browser. The vulnerability is due to a design error when processing floating point data types. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing a target user to open a maliciously crafted web page. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability will allow an attacker to take complete control of the affected system.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Apple Safari Webkit Floating Point Data Type Code Execution - Ver2 protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
