Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Oracle Database Server is an enterprise-level relational database application suite. A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the Oracle Database server, the vulnerability is due to an error in the Oracle Database server that fails to sufficiently validate the length field of the AUTH_SESSKEY parameter. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending malicious packets to the target server. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability would allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code remotely.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Oracle Database Server Network Authentication AUTH_SESSKEY Buffer Overflow - Ver2 protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
