Vulnerability Description | MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 (MP3) is a file format which uses lossy compression to compress audio information. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in the way Microsoft Windows handles specially crafted MP3 media files. The vulnerability is due the Windows component responsible for processing MP3 files that fails to properly handle specially crafted metadata. A remote attacker could exploit this issue by convincing a user to open a specially crafted MP3 file or receive specially crafted streaming content. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability will allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on an affected system remotely. |
