Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Microsoft PowerPoint is a popular graphics software for preparing slides and presentations. Remote code execution vulnerabilities have been identified in Microsoft PowerPoint. The vulnerabilities are due to memory calculation errors in Microsoft PowerPoint when processing a malformed picture index in a specially crafted PowerPoint file. A remote attacker could trigger these flaws by convincing a victim to open a specially crafted PowerPoint file. Successful exploitation of this issue may allow execution of arbitrary code on a vulnerable system.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2003 Picture Integer Overflow - Ver2 protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
