Who is Vulnerable? CA Erwin Web Portal 9.5 and prior
Vulnerability Description An information disclosure vulnerability exists in CA ERwin Web Portal. Upon executing a successful attack, the server will give access to XML files which normally should not be accessible to external users. This vulnerability is due to lack of authentication and insufficient input validation in the ConfigServiceProvider servlet when processing HTTP requests. A remote unauthenticated attacker can leverage this vulnerability to view the contents of arbitrary XML files on a target system, including XML files which store database credentials.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the CA ERwin Web Portal ConfigServiceProvider Information Disclosure protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Application Servers Protection Violation.
