Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Portable Document Format (PDF) is an open file format created by Adobe Systems. A vulnerability has been discovered in Adobe Reader. The vulnerability is due to an error in the Adobe Reader that fails to restrict the contents of one text field in the Launch File warning dialog, which makes it easier for remote attackers to trick users into executing an arbitrary local program that was specified in a PDF document. A remote attacker could trigger this issue via a specially crafted PDF file. Successful exploitation will allow execution of arbitrary code once the user is tricked by the malicious PDF file.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Multiple PDF products Launch Action Command Code Execution (APSB10-15) - Ver2 protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
