Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Microsoft Office is an office suite of inter-related desktop applications, servers and services for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. A remote attacker could exploit this issue via a malformed Office file. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow execution of arbitrary code on a target system. The vulnerability is due to an error in Microsoft Office that fails to properly parse specially crafted Office files. A remote attacker could trigger this flaw by convincing a victim to open a malicious Office file. Successful exploitation of this issue may corrupt system memory, allowing execution of arbitrary code on a vulnerable system.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Office Art Drawing Records Code Execution (MS10-087) - Ver2 protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
