Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | MySQL is an open-source implementation of a relational database management system. MySQL supports the SQL (Structured Query Language) database query language. The database product allows remote network connections from client applications over the proprietary MySQL network protocol in addition to regular client/server communications. The MySQL DBMS server requires password authentication for client connections. There exists a vulnerability in the way MySQL validates a user. The vulnerability allows an attacker to authenticate to a valid account using a specially crafted password. In a case of an authentication bypass attack, the attacker can log in as the MySQL user whose user-name was used in the attack. Depending on the database privileges of this user, the attacker may be able to modify database content or structure, add or delete database users and databases and so on. |
