Vulnerability Description | A sandbox bypass vulnerability, known as BadWinMail, exists in Microsoft Outlook. The vulnerability is due to the support provided by Outlook for two file formats that are being parsed automatically by Outlook which does not run under a sandbox and has medium integrity level. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending an e-mail to a target victim containing a specially crafted attachment which embeds an OLE object that leverages a second vulnerability in any another registered OLE software. |

This protection will detect and block mail messages containing embedded OLE objects.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
