Who is Vulnerable? Apache Software Foundation httpd prior to 2.4.52
Vulnerability Description A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability exists in the mod_proxy module of Apache httpd. The vulnerability is due to improper handling of malformed Request-URIs sent to servers configured as a forward proxy. A remote, unauthenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted request to the target server. Successful exploitation could result in a denial of service condition on the affected service.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R81 / R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Apache httpd mod_proxy NULL Pointer Dereference (CVE-2021-44224) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
